The Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, has slammed former President John Mahama for attempting to meddle in the decision by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia to contest Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairmanship position.
The NPP Chairman popularly known as Chairman Wontumi in an interview with Wontumionline.com stated that the move by Mr. Mahama to stop Aseidu Nketia from contesting Ofosu-Ampofo, is “unacceptable, undemocratic and evil”.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo has revealed that several attempts by the party’s Council of Elders as well as the 2020 Presidential Candidate of the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama to get Asiedu Nketia to rescind his decision of contesting him, has failed.
“This move is a wrong move, it is not a politically correct decision and there were moves by the Council of Elders, his Excellency President Mahama himself made moves…” he said.
Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo described as wrong the decision by the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, to contest him in their upcoming internal elections.
According to Ofosu-Ampofo, the decision cannot be said to be politically correct.
