UBA Organises 2022 SME Workshop In Kumasi

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana held the second in a series for 2022 SME capacity building in Kumasi at the Sunset Hotel. The initiative reaffirms the bank’s purpose to equip SMEs in the country with financial advisory services and requisite knowledge to expand their business.

Speaking on the theme ‘Maximising SME Business growth opportunities in Ghana’, Sylvia Inkoom, Deputy Managing Director-UBA Ghana, noted that the bank is working in these annual workshops to offer customers real opportunities and help grow their businesses. She noted that UBA supports its customers through all phases of their business, and the capacity building workshop is one of the ways to achieve this.

“When your businesses grow, we grow with you; and when you are out of business, invariably we are also. Therefore, we have an interest in your business growth,” says Sylvia.

The Deputy Managing Director further stated that UBA is providing access to market opportunities for customers through various interventions.

Owusu Achiaw Kwaakye, Chief Executive Officer-Naton Olives Consult – main speaker for this year, re-echoed his topic ‘Scaling up your business growth through access to the new markets’ through various areas including ‘Identifying and Assessing Market Opportunities’.

The Kumasi participants left the Sunset Hotel well-equipped with relevant tips to manage and grow their business.

So far, feedback from the workshops in Accra and Kumasi have been positive for both. A participant in Kumasi said: “I have learnt a lot today from this workshop and the speakers. I have gained so much information. And I’m also happy that I get to connect with other SMEs who attended this workshop”.

Peter Dery, Head-Retail Banking at UBA, encouraged customers and participants to improve their record-keeping culture in order to receive support from the bank. He noted that is one of the ways to determine the true value of their businesses.

He pledged that UBA will continue supporting customers with bespoke solutions, and add to the capacity-building workshops and SME clinics to properly diagnose their peculiar difficulties and help to overcome them as they grow their businesses.
