On This Day, 21 February 1808 (214 years ago): Without a previous declaration of war, Russian troops crossed the border to Sweden at Abborfors in eastern Finland, thus beginning the Finnish War, in which Sweden lost the eastern half of the country (e.g. Finland) to Russia.
