The Movement for Bawumia and Nana Addo in Amsterdam has thrown its weight behind the incumbent Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, who’s seeking to be retained for the third time in the upcoming regional elections.
Disclosing the main reason why the group decided to support Mr. Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi on MOVEMENT IN THE MORNING political show on Friday 27th May 2022, the Chairman of the group Charles Kwaku Duah, noted that among the candidates contesting for the chairmanship position in the Ashanti region, Chairman Wontumi is the only person the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fears.
“The NDC is afraid of Chairman Wontumi and that is the reason why delegates must ensure they retain him, in order to ensure we break the eight,” he said.
According to him, Chairman Wontumi is the only candidate among the others, to face the NDC ‘boot for boot’ in the Ashanti Region.
In buttressing his point, Mr. Duah explained that the machination and vigilantism coupled with the snatching of ballot boxes that characterizes elections in the Ashanti region, aimed at disrupting and discouraging voters from casting their ballot, which affects the election turnout in the stronghold of the NPP, has stopped since the election of Chairman Wontumi as the regional Chairman of the party.
“We cannot afford to go to opposition, and know that once you change Chairman Wontumi, we are on our way to opposition,” he warned delegates going to the polls on Saturday.
“He has our full support and we plead with delegates to vote for him”, Mr. Duah added.
