In the upcoming presidential primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on November 4th, 2023, the party finds itself at a crossroads in search of a Presidential Candidate with vision who can aide the party to break the 8.
In my opinion, that candidate is the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Unfortunately, there are indications that some members of the party with the support of propagandists of the NDC big wigs are attempting to use religious differences as a tool to undermine his aspirations.
However, it is essential to rise above such divisive sentiments and recognize the exceptional qualities of Dr. Bawumia that makes him an outstanding candidate for the role of flagbearer for our great party.
Throughout Ghana’s history, the Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has shown himself to be an exceptional leader with vision, leaving an indelible mark on the nation.
His contributions to the implementation of vital programs such as the National Builders’ Corps (NABCO), Free Senior High School (Free SHS), Zongo Development Fund, ECOWAS identity card (Ghana), inter-mobile connectivity, and the Great Digitalization initiative, just to mention few, which have been the National Democratic Congress (NDC) nightmare over the years has been instrumental in transforming the lives of countless Ghanaians and the nation as a whole.
Dr Bawumia has demonstrated unparalleled competence and dedication in his role as Vice President and even Hon Kennedy Agyapong before his presidential ambition confirmed this assertion in an interview on Net2 TV.
Dr Bawumia has opened the eyes of many Ghanaians to the true functions and potential of a Vice President, proving that, the position can be a catalyst for progress and positive change and therefore should be given the opportunity irrespective of his religious background or as a novice in the party which some persons who oppose him will want us to believe.
In the Bible, Apostle Paul was chosen to spread the gospel to the Gentiles, despite coming from humble beginnings. This highlights the fact that God is not a respecter of man and often selects individuals who may seem not to be the likely candidate for greatness.
Similarly, if Dr Bawumia is the individual chosen by divine providence or grace to lead Ghana,
it is our duty to respect and honor that choice.
Denying Dr Bawumia’s right to pursue the NPP flagbearer position based on religious differences would be akin to denying Jesus Christ the opportunity to sacrifice himself for the salvation of sinners. Just as Jesus’ sacrifice was an act of love and redemption, Dr Bawumia’s leadership holds the promise of transforming Ghana for the better for both Christians, Muslims , transitionalists and Ghana as whole.
Dr Mahamdu Bawumia embodies the qualities of an excellent candidate. His intellect, selflessness, passion, innovation, and inspirational leadership have garnered admiration and support from numerous Ghanaians.
His commitment to public service and his ability to envision and implement progressive policies make him an ideal choice to lead the NPP and, ultimately, Ghana.
