Dr. Solomon Kwarteng Forkuo has flaked Sammy Gyamfi for speaking gibberish on the issue of benchmark value when he could have used the opportunity to speak wisdom.
Dr. Kwarteng Forkuo who is a university lecturer with the Kumasi Technical University (KSTU) explained on Wontumi TV that government’s decision to reverse the benchmark value discounts on 44 products were a step in the right direction and would help local industries grow.
“That boy, he spoke gibberish. Apart from insults what did he offer?”, Dr. Forkuo asked as he questioned the rationale behind Sammy Gyamfi’s speed to organize a press conference on the benchmark value topic.
The opposition NDC has described the decision by government to reverse the benchmark value discounts on 44 products as “callous” and “insensitive” which will “stifle the already burdened businesses in the country.”
To the NDC, the reversal of the discounts on selected imported goods, effective January, 4, 2022, will cause import duties to skyrocket and thus believed it is simply a measure by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government to “punish Ghanaians for their economic mismanagement and recklessness”.
