TESCON-KNUST Cautions NDC Not To Make Political Capital Out Of Government-UTAG Impasse
A student wing of the New Patriotic Party, TESCON- KNUST has issued a stern warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to capitalize on the government- UTAG impasse.
According to TESCON-KNUST, if the NDC had implemented the recommendations of the 2014 labour market survey, the hardworking lecturers wouldn’t have requested the demands.
In an interview on Wontumi TV on Monday, 7/02/2022 the TESCON- KNUST President, Collins Nana Baidoo and other executives, deplored the lack of respect by the John Mahama-led government which made teachers work for three years and were paid only 3 months of their salaries.
However, they passionately appealed to the government and UTAG to return to the negotiation table and find a lasting solution to the strike action.
The TESCON- KNUST executives bemoaned that the strike action has made the students stranded.
They further bemoaned that innocent students are being affected by the industrial action.
The President of the NPP student wing affirmed he is happy the court has urged both NLC and UTAG to settle their issues out of court.
Collins Nana Baidoo expressed the hope that Government and UTAG will not enter into a negotiation table with an entrenched position.
He said Akufo Addo is a listening President and his government will not disrespect UTAG.
