Tescon Deputy Coordinator Lauds Lands & Natural Resources Ministry For Green Ghana Project
A Deputy National Tescon Co-ordinator, Mr. Sarfo Raphael Patrick, has lavishly poured praises on the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor for the introduction of the Green Ghana Project.
According to him, there are numerous benefits that can be acquired from trees but they are rare in the system.
“The culture of protecting trees is not endowed in us so it is a good vision to introduce the project,” he told Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi Radio/ TV Morning Show.
Mr. Sarfo Patrick, urged Ghanaians to embrace the Green Ghana Project.
He noted that it was gleeful to notice the participation of some members of the opposition party, NDC in the exercise.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa, Haruna Iddrisu, Sam George, Speaker of Parliament etc took part in the exercise. Democracy is about strong opposition. Let’s all support what is good and if the opposition parties criticize us, we should accept it,” he said.
The NPP sympathizer said he was happy to see every institution dabbling in the exercise.
Mr. Sarfo Patrick indicated that, the responsibility rest squarely on Ghanaians to nurture the trees.
In his speech to mark the country’s inaugural Green Ghana Day, President Akufo-Addo said that, It is an ambitious initiative, and “we will make the necessary effort to sustain it. God willing, this event will be an annual one, and planting targets will be reviewed upwards every year.”
He said that the Government is determined to restore the lost forest cover of our country.
” Indeed, we are doing so through a number of policy interventions. The attempt to regulate and sanitize the small-scale mining industry is one such to help keep our forest cover and reserves intact.”
