Organised Labour has called off its strike following an emergency meeting held on Monday, July 15, 2024. In a press statement signed by the Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress, Dr Yaw Baah; the Chairman of the Forum of Public Sector Workers, Dr Isaac Bampoe Addo; and the Deputy Secretary General of the Ghana Federation of Labour, Kenneth Koomson; the unions have given SSNIT one month to engage with them and resolve all outstanding issues related to the management of their pensions. Organised Labour To Demand Increment In 2024 Salaries Instead Of COLA

Organized Labour has said that it will reject the government’s plan to introduce a Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in next year’s salaries negotiations instead of increasing the salaries of public sector workers. COLA is an allowance given to government employees as short-term relief when immediate salary increments cannot be made. Organized Labour says that it is rejecting the COLA because it won’t have any positive effect on pension payments and other benefits.
