Contractors working on the second phase of the Obetsebi-Lamptey interchange in Accra have started applying bitumen as they work around the clock to complete the project by next month in order to ensure free flow of traffic in the capital. When the Ghanaian Times visited the project site on Thursday, August 14, 2024, the dust covering commuters had reduced, with workers pouring black bitumen on the asphalt overlays. Phase 2 Of Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange Project Halted Over IMF Deal

Resident Engineer for FAS Consult Limited, Antwi Owusu Sekyere has attributed the suspension of works of the Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange project in Accra to the government’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund. The project after completion will reduce traffic congestion occurring at the intersection of Ring Road West and Winneba/Graphic Road through the upgrading of the traffic at Circle and the development of two flyovers allowing continuous traffic flow along Ring Road West.
