The Ashanti region had about 70,000 persons living with HIV/AIDS as of the end of 2021, with last year’s data still being processed, the region has seen a consistent downward trend of new infections of the virus since 2019. The number of new cases reduced from 4,000 to 3,590 in 2020 and further reduced to 3,121 the following year, with a regional prevalence of one point eight-six per cent of the total population of Ashanti.
