Ghana Standards Authority Shuts Down Chinese Metal Company

A Chinese-owned company, Fenis Metal Technology Company, has been shut down by the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) for operating without proper certification. The exercise which was led by the Head of Enforcement at GSA, George Anti, was aimed at removing substandard products from the Ghanaian market. The local electric cable and copper rod manufacturing plant in Prampram, according to Mr Anti lacked important information, including product batch numbers, date of manufacture, expiry, name and address of the producer. Standards Authority IT Officer Slumps During Staff Protest, Dies Days Later

It has been reported that an IT officer at the Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has died days after he collapsed at the office during a protest by the junior staff. According to a 3news.com report, the deceased, whose name has not been given, collapsed during an altercation with the GSA’s Director of Administration on March 7, 2023. No ‘Certification Of Conformance’, No Used Vehicles To Enter Ghana From January 1, 2023 – Standards Authority

The Ghana Standards Authority is informing the public and more specifically importers of used vehicles that beginning January 1, 2023, all used vehicles imported into Ghana shall be accompanied by a valid Certificate of Conformance (CoC) from an approved body. The certificate must thus demonstrate conformance of the used vehicle to requirements of the Ghana Standard for used vehicles GS 4510:2022 Road vehicles — requirements for imported used motor vehicles.
