GRA Recovers GH¢85 Million In Revenue Shortfalls From Businesses

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) monitoring team noted that more than GH¢85 million has been recovered in revenue from businesses within five months, i.e October 2022 to February 2023. The losses were recovered by a monitoring team inaugurated in October 2022 to undertake risk-based and intelligence-driven operations across the country. e-VAT Regime For 600 Large Taxpayers Set To Begin

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) is set to start the first phase of electronic value added tax (e-VAT) implementation, where some 600 taxpayers in the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO) will be integrated into the Commissioner-General’s invoicing system from March 31 to June 1, this year. This follows the successful pilot of some 50 targetted taxpayers on the certified electronic invoicing system. The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assured to reimburse mobile money customers who are wrongfully overcharged following the implementation of the 1 percent levy on electronic transfers. The reduction of the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) from 1.5 to 1 percent commenced on Wednesday, January 11. The reduction of the levy was made known in the 2023 Budget and Economic Policy Statement presented on the floor of Parliament last year by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta. The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has listed cases it is investigating. In its half-yearly report for the period between August and December, 2022, the Office stated that over 120 cases involving individuals and state-owned institutions are under investigation for corruption-related matters.
