VRA Suspends Power Expor To Burkina, Cote D’Ivoire And Mali

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has revealed that it has suspended exporting power to Ghana’s neighboring countries. These countries include Mali, Côte d’Ivoire, and Burkina Faso. The suspension is on the back of a directive by President Akufo-Addo in April 2024, when some parts of the country was experiencing erratic power supply. The directive which was revealed by the Chairman of the Energy Committee of Parliament, Samuel Atta-Akyea indicated the President’s prioritisation of domestic energy requirements over potential profits from exporting electricity.
