ECG Disconnects 310 Clients Over Illegal Connection

The Tema Region of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), has disconnected power supply to 310 consumers for owing and engaging in illegal connections. As part of measures to increases revenue collections and to recover debts owed the power supply company, engineers from the Electricity Company of Ghana from Monday, March 20 to Friday, March 31 visited 2,344 customers to re-calibrate electric meters and correct illegal electrical connections. ECG Staff, Vendors Busted Over Alleged GH¢2.1 Million Theft Granted Bail

Ten persons, including staff of Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), accused of stealing GH¢2,143,270 being proceeds of pre-paid credit, have been granted bail. The High Court presided over by Justice Lydia Osei Marfo, admitted Ali Nasiru Shaibu, a Computer Programmer at the ICT Department, ECG, to bail in the sum of GHS 4 million with two sureties to be justified. Nine others were also admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢300,000 with one surety each to be justified. The amount realised is above the initial target of GH¢5 million, representing 250 percent of the revenue mobilisation.
