The four-tier interchange in the Ashanti Rgional Capital, Kumasi, aims to improve urban mobility and reduce congestion around the Suame Roundabout and its juresdiction.
According to Thomas Kusi Boafo, Chief Executive officer (CEO) of Public Sector Reforms, the Suame Interchange project is expected to be completed in December 2025.
The project, includes the construction of a four-tier interchange at the Suame Roundabout and overpasses at Abrepo Junction, Krofruom Junction, Anomangye Junction, Magazine New Road Junction, and Abusuakruwa Junction.
Once completed, the Suame Interchange will enhance traffic circulation, reduce travel time, and improve the movement of people, goods, and services, supporting the socioeconomic development of Kumasi and Ghana as a whole.
The project commenced in September 2022 and is expected to take 36 months to complete, aligning with Kusi Boafo’s hinted completion date of December 2025.
The upcoming Suame Interchange will be the largest in West Africa.
Kusi Boafo emphasized the project’s transformative potential, saying, Suame interchange will be completed in December 2025 and reopening may happen 2026, It’ll be the bigest road infrastructure in West Africa.
