Stop The Decongestion Exercise In Accra, Transform It Into Your 24hr Economic Policy- Hon. Akwasi Acquah Tells Gov’t

The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency has advised President John Mahama to put a stop to the decongestion exercise his government plans undertaking in some parts of Greater Accra region and rather capitalize on it to introduce his 24-hour economy strategy.

Hon.  Alexander Akwasi Acquah in an interview on Movement TV, stated that President Mahama promised Ghanaians 24-hour economy but has done nothing about it since assuming office.

He therefore advised that the areas to be decongested could be used to experiment the 24-hour economy President Mahama talked about.

“Where buyers and sellers meet is where we can start the 24 hour policy”, he suggested to the Mahama led government.

He continued that the present government “promised us that we won’t be sleeping and business would be booming all day”.

He therefore wondered how John Mahama’s 24-hour economy would work if traders are thrown out from the streets where they meet buyers.

The Mayor of Accra, Michael Kpakpo Allotey, has said a decongestion exercise is in the offering and set to commence on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Areas to be affected are the Central Business District, Okaishie, Kwame Nkrumaj=h Interchange and Kaneshie.

But Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah revealed that “I told the mayor of Accra to take advantage and start implementing the 24 hour policy”.
