STATEMENT: Clarification On Payment Of YEA Operatives Under The Waste And Sanitation Module

Waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, has clarified concerns raised by some operatives under the Sanitation Module of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) regarding payment of allowances and the company’s role in the Waste and Sanitation Module.

Zoomlion said it is responsible for managing operatives and providing necessary logistics, but payment of allowances is solely determined by the Government/YEA.

“The payment of YEA operatives’ allowances is solely determined by the Government/YEA. It is then released to Zoomlion for onward payment to the beneficiaries,” the statement read.

The company also clarified working hours, stating that YEA operatives work four hours daily, excluding Sundays, with compensation for extra hours worked.

Zoomlion noted its humanitarian support for workers, including financial assistance for medical treatment and end-of-year gifts.

Zoomlion highlighted its 18-year partnership with YEA, ensuring timely salary payments and investing in professional development through comprehensive training programs.

The company also mentioned its annual global exposure program, which recently sponsored YEA operatives to visit Belarus and Russia.

Regarding delayed payments, Zoomlion emphasized that it is not responsible, as the government has not disbursed funds.

However, the company has secured loans to pre-finance allowances as a humanitarian gesture.

Zoomlion reassured its commitment to supporting YEA operatives and working with the government to ensure timely payments.

The company also emphasized its dedication to delivering world-class waste management services and upholding contractual obligations.
