Speaker Bagbin Travels With A Large Entourage For A Hernia Surgery And Nobody Complains- Paul Yandoh

The Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has vehemently dismissed allegations against Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, which led to calls for her suspension.

According to Yandoh, the petition questioning her travel expenses is baseless and shouldn’t have been used to establish a prima facie case against her, as it lacks substantial evidence.

In a candid interview on Wontumi TV, Yandoh pointed out glaring double standards in the treatment of public figures. He cited the example of Lordina Mahama, wife of former President John Dramani Mahama, who has traveled abroad on state funds to watch football matches. Yandoh also referenced the former President’s son, Sharaf Mahama, who accompanies his father on trips despite not holding any official position as a minister or presidential staffer.

Yandoh further drew comparisons between the Chief Justice’s situation and that of the Speaker of Parliament, who travels with a large entourage, including medical doctors, and even shuts down parliamentary proceedings for personal trips such as hernia surgery.

Given the Chief Justice’s stature as the third-highest authority in the country, after the President and Vice President, Yandoh questioned why her $10,000 travel expenses were being subjected to intense scrutiny, while others seemingly enjoy greater latitude.
