Some Big Men In NPP Called Me To Abandon Chairman Wontumi- NPP General Secretary

The General Secretary for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has expressed shock over calls from certain powerful people in his party to abandon Chairman Wontumi and allow him to carry his own cross without party support.

“I am getting calls from NPP members and they are asking me why I am defending Wontumi. They said he removed gold and didn’t help me when I was going for an election”, he shockingly revealed.

Saddened by the development, Justin Kodua Frimpong revealed to Kwaku Dawuro on Movement TV that the people rejoicing over Chairman Wontumi’s predicaments, tried to convince him not to offer any support to their embattled Ashanti regional Chairman.

But a defiant Kodua Frimpong sounded a caution that “today you think it is Wontumi, tomorrow it could be you and may not know where it may land you.”

In a related development, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating Chairman Wontumi in connection with financial transactions involving the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank.

Chairman Wontumi was granted GH₵50 million bail on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with two sureties required to support the amount.

Lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi, told Movement TV that he is hopeful the bond conditions would be satisfied soon.
