Former Defense Minister Dominic Nitiwul, who is also a member of parliament for Bimbilla, has accused the government of intimidating him and other citizens by using the military.
Speaking on Wednesday, February 12, on the floor of Parliament, Nitiwul revealed that armed military personnel had been following him around lately, casting doubt on Ghana’s democracy.
“They are using soldiers to intimidate Ghanaians, including myself, and that is not democracy,” he lamented.
His worries follow a recent military raid on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s home, which provoked widespread indignation and conjecture about possible political persecution.

Despite the government’s silence regarding both incidents, critics—especially those from the previous administration—claim that these acts reveal a concerning trend of militarized intimidation against public leaders.
