Shatta Wale has issued “a formal challenge to Stonebwoy” to determine who truly is the King of Dancehall music.
Shatta Wale assured “the nation’s leaders” of “a structured” contest devoid of violence.
He asserted the clash would be a “healthy competition” and fertile ground for businesses to market their goods and services for sales.
Responding to an X user’s comment, the singer-songwriter explained how the legitimate Dancehall King will be decided on the day at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“Since you guys claim your artiste is better than me, the only way we can judge this is by dropping hit songs one after the other, and see who has more hit songs. That’s all, no insults, no fighting,” Shatta Wale said, Thursday, August 29.
The record producer and entrepreneur warned: “If he [Stonebwoy] and his fans decline this invitation, he should refrain from identifying as a Dancehall artiste, as I consider him a Reggae artiste.”
In 2019, the feud between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy rose to a feverish pitch when Stonebwoy was announced the Ghana Music Awards Dancehall Artiste of the Year for the fifth time. Shatta Wale and his crew rushed onto the stage while Stonebwoy delivered his acceptance speech. The confrontation ended in Stonebwoy revealing he was armed with a gun.
