Setting The Records Straight (Kumawu)

Misleading reports within the media space suggest that, some “concerned citizens” of Sekyere Kumawu district earlier this week threatened to vote against the ruling party, NPP, in the upcoming by-election citing “total neglect” of the Kumawu constituency in terms of development as the reason. According to these unfounded reports, the government, in response to the said threats, has initiated some projects in the constituency.

To set the records straight, the late Member of Parliament of the constituency, Hon. Philip Basoah, had already lobbied and secured for the constituency the ongoing projects, whose execution has only coincided with the by-election, and for that matter, cannot be described as “vote-buying”.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi – Boasiako, a.k.a Chairman Wontumi, earlier in the week was in the constituency with other officers of the party to commence the processes for the election of a new parliamentary candidate.

While mobbed by the constituents, and his huge magnetic personality spontaneously bringing activities of the town to a standstill, he seized the opportunity to engage the constituents, and explain to them the steps already made by the late Hon. Basoah to bring development to the constituency. The people were extremely pleased, and pledged their utmost loyalty and continued support to the party.
