Scrap Off Deputy Regional Ministers Position- Local Governance Expert Appeals To Akufo-Addo
Local Governance Expert, Dr. Eric Oduro Osae has opined that, the position of Deputy Regional Ministers in the various Regions should be scraped off.
According to him, the Regional Ministers have Regional Directors who support them in their work so there would be more Ministers if President Akufo-Addo appoints Deputy Regional Ministers.
Speaking on Wontumi Radio/TV Morning Show, Dr. Oduro Osae appealed to the President to reduce the size of his government.
He said that, the number of the Ministers should be reduced between 70 to 80.
However, the Local Governance Expert suggested that, the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives should be assessed to know their performance.
“The government should assess them and those who perform well, should be maintained and those who couldn’t perform, changed,” he said.
According to Dr. Oduro Osae, the MMDCEs should sign a performance base contract to assess them but not to wait for their tenure.
He appealed to the government to enhance the powers of the Monitoring and Evaluation Ministry to monitor the achievements and the performance of the Ministers and the MMDCEs.
