Ahead of the 2020 general elections, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has called on members of his party to be violent when it comes to protecting the ballot.
In an address he delivered at Asawase Mosque on Saturday, November 21, 2020, which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, the NDC executive who is also an Elder at the Church of Pentecost, called on his followers to ensure they stand resolute and use any means whether foul, on the day of voting.
In a related development, an Accra High Court has admitted an alleged Ofosu Ampofo leaked tape as evidence.
The alleged audio recording captured the the voice of NDC National Chairman planning a road-map of criminal activities targeted at some individuals.
The targeted individuals include the Electoral Commission (EC) chair and the Chairman of the National Peace Council among others
This was after the court had rejected claims by lawyers for the politician that the audio breached constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy.
Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo is heard clearly in the audio saying that “the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war against her. We need to take her to the cleaners.”
He is also heard saying, “We will go after them. We will not go after them face to face. We will target some people to make them feel their lives are in danger.
“We should also not spare the CSOs and religious groups. Especially the peace council chairman. For the first time I will endorse insults”.
