A jewelry shop in Adabraka, Accra, has been the target of an armed robbery for the second time this year, according to residents interviewed by Graphic Online.
The robbery occurred on Saturday, November 2, when four armed and masked men approached a man in a red Toyota Corolla parked near the bustling Adabraka market.
Eyewitnesses reported that the robbers drew their guns and fired multiple shots into the air, scattering the crowd of shoppers and vendors, who rushed to find cover behind shops.
The robbers quickly forced their way into the Toyota, seizing large sacks of cash that had just been loaded into the vehicle.
Following the incident, the police announced that they are intensifying efforts to locate the gang responsible.
In a statement, they reassured the public, saying, “We would like to assure the public that we will surely get them and bring them to face justice.”
The getaway vehicle, identified as a Toyota Highlander with registration number GN 7357-19, has been tracked to Ashaiman in Greater Accra.
Security agencies have released images of the vehicle leaving the crime scene and shared its route, which included stops at the Sunny FM Roundabout, Shiashie, Accra Mall, and Accra Mall Roundabout before heading through Ashaiman Zenu.
The police are on a manhunt for the gang, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety and security in the area, particularly given the recurrence of such incidents at the same jewelry shop.
