Ghanaian champions Samartex will host their CAF Champions League home matches at the Accra Sports Stadium, as approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The Timber Giants will represent Ghana in the CAF elite competition next season after their historic Ghana Premier League victory last season, where they dethroned Medeama.
Samartex will travel to face Cameroonian champions Victoria United FC on August 18, 2024, at the Omnisport Stadium, with the return fixture in Ghana on August 25.
In a statement, Samartex confirmed the Accra Sports Stadium as their home venue for the campaign.
“The management of FC Samartex wishes to inform our cherished supporters and the wider sporting community that the Accra Sports Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as the venue for the Champions League,” the club announced on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Samartex aims to make a significant impact in their maiden CAF Champions League campaign.
The team is currently in Akropong, Eastern Region, preparing for the African season.
The winner of this tie will advance to the second preliminary round, where they could potentially face Moroccan giants Raja Club Athletic for a spot in the group stages.
