“RTI Law Will Expose Many Institutions In Ghana”- NMC Boss
The coming into force of the Right To Information Act will expose many institutions in Ghana, Mr. Yaw Boadu Ayeboafo Chairman for the National Media Commission has indicated.
The situation where individuals are sometimes compelled by some office holders to make payment to guarantee their access to personal information from public institutions and relevant private bodies according to him will be a thing of the past.
He cited notable challenge; students finding it difficult to get the raw score of their examination performance from WAEC officials, explaining that under the RTI law, students can apply to get their raw score.
Addressing the media on the sidelines at a public forum/lecturer held in Kumasi on 14th October 2021, he set the record straight that “Institutions will have to sit up because individuals can apply to get their score…and the situation where people have failed in some exams and when they want to find out their raw score officials will say come and pay some money before and all that will be a thing of the past so a lot of institutions can no longer hide their internal weaknesses because this law will expose them”.
He therefore advised the public to embrace RTI Act “and enable it work for our collective good”.
