Review Election Of Parliamentary Candidates — Frimpong Manu
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Vincent Frimpong Manu, has called for a review of the election processes for parliamentary candidates of the party.
“I think we need a lot more voices in the selection of candidates at the primary level and I think the process should be reviewed.
“I think that we need a lot of young people to participate in politics at Kwadaso in order to pave the way for them to make bigger contributions,” he said.
Youth Week
Mr Frimpong Manu, who is a former parliamentary aspirant for the Kwadaso Constituency, was speaking at the Pentecost International Worship Centre Youth Week at Kwadaso.
It was on the theme: “How can today’s youth be empowered to transform the next generation?”
Peripheral
Mr Frimpong Manu said the youth, especially those within the Kwadaso Constituency, had been on the fringes for far too long and it was time they got active in the decision-making process to select a candidate of their choice to trigger development.
“To fix some challenges at some point in life, you have to take a bold step, volunteer some time as an intern and be motivated to break bounds no matter where you are coming from,” he added.
Mr Frimpong Manu, who is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for the Middle Belt Development Authority, told the youth to be focused, resilient and be ready to go through mentorship in order to prepare them to take over the politics of the constituency.
“We need to give more opportunities to the youth to make choices and be part of governing process,” he said.
Mentorship
The Head Pastor of the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Kwadaso, Pastor Samuel Asiamah, called for a mentorship programme to prepare the youth for the future.
“They need to understudy the experienced ones, learn the lessons of life and be prepared to take over,” he said.
“If Christians are given the chance, they will bring godly principles to influence the political arena of Ghana,” he added.
