Registration Challenges Could Affect NPP’s Preparation for 2028 Elections – Mr. Ackom

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s communications team, Mr. Ackom has raised concerns about challenges affecting the ongoing registration exercise of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), warning that the situation could affect the party’s preparation toward the 2028 general elections.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, he said that the process is not going as smoothly as expected, as many people who visit polling stations to register often do not find the responsible officials present.

“The registration exercise is not going on as smoothly as we expected. Many people go to the polling stations to register, but sometimes the officials are not there,” Mr. Ackom stated.

He revealed that one individual recently went to his polling station to register but found no officers available to assist.

“Someone even went to his polling station to register but met no one there. The person later went to Wontumi TV to find out whether he could register from the station instead,” he explained.

Mr. Ackom emphasized that every successful program requires proper organization and leadership.

“Every program needs proper organization and leadership to succeed. If there is no one clearly in charge, the program will not run smoothly,” he said.

He further noted that there have been several complaints from party members who visit polling stations to write their names but do not find polling officers present.

“If the officers are unable to be at the stations, they should communicate or make announcements so people will know the exact day and time to come and register,” he suggested.

Mr. Ackom also called on the NPP General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, to intervene and ensure the registration exercise becomes successful, especially in the Ashanti Region, which he described as the party’s strongest electoral base.

“The General Secretary should intervene to ensure that the exercise becomes successful, particularly in the Ashanti Region, which is the party’s strongest base,” he added.
