The Bono East Regional Secretary, David Boakye, has called on Togbe Afede XIV to refund the salaries, sitting allowances and all grants he received from the state during his tenure as the head of Council of State.

The Paramount Chief and the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, Togbe Afede XIV rejected  365,000 ex-gratia paid to him for serving as the Council of State between 2017 and 2020 saying it is inappropriate to receive such an amount after taking salaries while in office.

David Boakye is among the many individuals who have reacted to Togbe Afede’s action.

While speaking on Movement In The Morning Political Show on Movement TV, he said ‘’Togbe Afede did not attend all the 242 meetings while in office before the council voted against him as the Chairman of the House of Chief.  If his action is genuine, he should refund the 65, 000 dollar grant he received from government to buy the car, the sitting allowances and salaries”.

He further indicated that there is the need to probe and find out his motive whether it was for the interest of the country or he was serving his personal interest.

“Why take 65,000 dollars to buy a car when you already have cars? He should hand over the car to Ho hospital so we see the extent of his selflessness. Why take all sitting allowances, salaries and car and reject the ex-gratia?”, he asked.

Solomon Asante a communicator of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) added that Togbe Afede ‘s action is geared towards making the government unpopular and add to the ”no contribution no chop” agenda of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

He further stated that he could have used the money to embark on some developmental projects in his community.

Togbe Afede is also the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Africa World Airlines.
