- Chairman Wontumi has shared an interesting story of how Bugri Naabu infuriated the late former President Rawlings by chanting NPP slogan at an event organized by the NDC in the Northern region.
The late former President Jerry John Rawlings, once gave Bugri Naabu a hefty slap for saying ‘eshi rado rado’ instead of ‘3y3 zu, 3y3y za’ during a rally organized for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has revealed.
The Ashanti regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) disclosed that former President Rawlings had tried in the past to get Bugri Naabu cross political carpet but that was to no avail.
Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, told Mr. Gordon Asare-Bediako on Movement TV’s Bekyere Mu Show which was monitored by Movementtvonline.com that “During Rawlings’ time, he went to Bugri to try and persuade him to join the NDC. He did everything possible to get him so invited him to share a stage with to speak because Bugri was commanding the entire Northern region. So Northern region politics and Ghana politics, Bugri understands it. I am telling Dampare.”
“So Rawlings wanted Bugri to chant NDC’s slogan just like NPP has ‘eshi rado rado’ but instead, he chanted NPP ‘eshi’ and Rawlings slapped him in public and he fell down”, he said.
