After Barcelona won the first leg 1-0, the game seemed evenly poised going into the second leg, but Real Madrid turned the tie around in dramatic fashion.
Karim Benzema stole the show with a hat-trick to lead Real Madrid to victory. The French striker opened the goal on the night, assisting Vinicius Junior on the stroke of halftime.
Benzema then scored twice in the second half, including a penalty that he took calmly, to complete his hat-trick and secure Real Madrid’s spot in the final.
Real Madrid dominated the game from start to finish and were fully deserving of their victory. Barcelona struggled to create any meaningful chances and were outplayed by their bitter rivals.
The result means Real Madrid have qualified for their first Copa Del Rey final since 2014 and will face Osasuna on May 6th.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will now turn their attention to La Liga, where they face Villarreal on Saturday evening. Meanwhile, Barcelona will host Girona on Monday night, looking to bounce back from their disappointing defeat.
