Col. Kwadwo Damoah (Rtd) has revealed the role a pro National Democratic Congress media outlet Radio Gold, was used by some moles in the Ghana Armed Forces to spread falsehood about him.
The current Commissioner for the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) disclosed in a one on one interview with Oheneba Asiedu on the Wontumi Morning Show that before the 2008 general, a grand scheme was set to destroy him and Radio Gold played a massive role in that.
“They used Radio Gold to denigrate me. Before the 2008 general elections, Radio gold was used widely to destroy my reputation. I was accused on their platform of using a white pickup truck to distribute stuffed ballot papers at Brong Ahafo region to favour then candidate Akufo-Addo.
When the allegations were made, I was not even in Brong Ahafo region but in Accra. For this reason, senior officers in the military were sent to come and inspect my whereabouts”, he said.
He continued that during 2008 election runoff, the station run another false report about him that he was in the Northern Region fomenting trouble when he wasn’t in the region.
Col. Damoah however revealed that the moles in the Ghana Armed Forces who were leaking information to the pro NDC media houses were known officers but nothing was done to reprimand them.
“We knew the moles in the forces but when we reported the issue to the NPP, they turned a deaf ear to it”, he said.
Lastly, he remarked that the same media house run comments that he had organized a bus full of soldiers with intent to murder the late former President John Rawlings.
