After winning the 2016 general elections, Vice President Bawumia recounts that he immediately became too serious minded to an extent that it took President Akufo-Addo to remind him to smile.
To get him smiling, the Vice President revealed on an interview on Wontumi TV and Radio which was monitored by Wontumionline.com that President Akufo-Addo begun to tease him.
“President Nana Akufo-Addo teased me after the 2016 election. He said I looked too serious and that I had stopped giving my usual smiles and laughs”, Vice President Bawumia disclosed on a light note.
He however gave reasons to the seriousness he developed after he and President Akufo-Addo won the NPP power in 2016.
According to him “after we won the 2016 elections, my mind was on our first budget… it was on transforming our manifesto promises into policies. It was about forming a team because people had their expectation on what we were going to do”.
He continued that “it was practical governance for me and how I was going to help my boss. As Vice president, you can’t do everything unless the President gives you the go ahead. President Akufo-Addo made me leader of the Economic Management Team and I constantly consulted him about the things we had to do.”
