The Bono regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe has revealed that President Akufo-Addo once rejected a cash offer of $2 billion from an LGBTQI+ (Lesbian, gay, bi-sexual trans, queer, intersex) community during his early days in office.

Mr. Kwame Baffoe popularly known as Chairman Abronye during his opening remarks on the Nsempa Fie show which airs on Wontumi TV, stated that the government of President Akufo-Addo urgently needed to raise funds to settle huge debts the erstwhile Mahama government left behind in order to provide stable electricity for Ghanaians.

He noted that when President Akufo-Addo took over office, his government had to pay close $180million to the Nigerian government because former President Mahama had failed to do so despite painting a picture he had.

Abronye added that Nigeria’s President, Buhari personally told President Akufo-Addo that “John Mahama was not truthful to him” and that was the reason he had to cut gas supply to us.

It was on the back of the dire situation that the LGBTQI+ community according to Abronye approached the government of President Akufo-Addo to offer it $2billion in cash if their activities would be legalized in the country.

But the offer was rejected by President Akufo-Addo. He therefore used the platform to call on Ghanaians not to harm any gay or lesbian but rather report them to police to deal with them.
