President Akufo-Addo Receives Otumfuo’s Commemorative Coin

President Akufo-Addo has received his copy of The Otumfuo commemorative coin from executives of EON 3 Group, the organization that led the initiative to seek authorization from the Bank of Ghana for the minting of the gold coin to celebrate Otumfuo.

The Bank of Ghana gave authorization for EON 3 Group to mint 24-carat commemorative gold coins to celebrate the Asantehene for his tremendous contribution to peacebuilding in Ghana and beyond.

The 24-carat gold coin minted in Ghana by Gold Coast Refinery weighs about 31.104 grams with a diameter of 37 millimeters.

Otumfuo’s record

Presenting the gold coin to President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House today the 27 January 2022, Jesse Agyepong, lead consultant for EON 3 Group said his royal majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene on 29 December 2019 received the pillar of peace award at the Africa Premiere Leadership award in recognition for his role in the conflict resolution over the Dagbon chieftaincy issues.

The resolution according to Mr. Agyepong, traveled several Ghanaian Presidents starting from President John Kufour, through the time of President John Evans Atta Mills, John Dramani Mahama, and finally, securing the resolution during the time of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“Otumfuo’s pursuit and love for peace go beyond the Dagbon issue, including settlement of stools and chieftaincy disputes in Asanteman, and facilitation and mediation of difficult political transitions”.

These and other endeavors of Otumfuo are the reasons why Jesse Agyepong, believes the Bank of Ghana unreservedly gave E ON 3 authorization to mint the gold coin to celebrate His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
