President Akufo-Addo responded to false rumours that some Ghanaians would lose their money as a result of governments ongoing negotiations with the IMF.
“I also want to assure all Ghanaians that no individual or institutional investor, including pension funds, in Government treasury bills or instruments will lose their money, as a result of our ongoing IMF negotiations”, he said.
The President in a late night address which was monitored by Wontumionline.com, urged Ghanaians to ignore news making round from the quarters of the NDC that there would be “haircuts”.
“There will be no “haircuts”, so I urge all of you to ignore the false rumours, just as, in the banking sector clean-up, Government ensured that the 4.6 million depositors affected by the exercise did not lose their deposits”, President Akufo-Addo said.
It would be recalled that the NDC led by Hon. Ato Forson, started spreading false rumours that as a result of government’s ongoing negotiations with the IMF, there would be “haircuts”.
