A sod-cutting ceremony has been performed for the rehabilitation of Atonsu S-line junction to S-line station and Kyirapatre old town in the Asokwa Municipal Assembly.

The ceremony was performed by the Member of Parliament, Hon. Patricia Appiagyei, MCE, Hon Akwanuasa Gyimah and some authorities.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency, Patricia Appiagyei said the poor road network has been the biggest plight for drivers and residents.

But she was quick to assert that there has been light at the end of the tunnel.

According to Sompahemaa as she is affectionately called, the rehabilitation of the Atonsu S-line and Kyirapatre old town roads is a clear indication that Akufo-Addo has not neglected the constituency.

She said since Asokwa became a Municipality it has chalked numerous developmental projects.

Sompahemaa made a solemn appeal to traders on the roadside to evacuate to ensure the smooth fixation of the roads.

In his remarks, the MCE for the area, Hon. Akwanuasa Gyimah disclosed that the duration of the project is eight months.

Hon Akwanuasa Gyimah expressed the hope that the contractor, M-Gyebi Company Ltd will meet the timeframe.

According to him, the rehabilitation of the poor road network forms part of breaking the eight years jinx agenda.

He, therefore, called on residents not to bow to the propaganda by a section of Ghanaians.

He said Asokwa Constituency has acquired its share of the national cake as far as the year of roads is concerned.

He stressed that the Municipality will develop massively if NPP breaks the eight.

Hon Akwanuasa Gyimah hinted that if the electorate vote out NPP in 2024, the development of the Asokwa constituency will be on tenterhooks.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with Nana Owusu Achiaw, some of the drivers who ply the stretch commended the city authorities for heeding their distress.

They urged the authorities not to cut the sod and neglect the rehabilitation.
