The Member of Parliament for Gushegu and Deputy Minister for Transport, Hon. Lawyer Hassan Tampuli celebrated his birthday on 27th May. The highlight of the birthday celebration was a two (2) day medical screening held at Cheampongyili and Zamanshegu in the Gushegu Constituency. The medical team consisted of:
1. Ten (10) physicians;
2. Two (2) eye specialists;
3. Three (3) pharmacy technicians;
4. Ten (10) nurses; and
5. Ten (10) volunteer interpreters.
Over 2000 people were screened for all manner of medical conditions within two (2) days of the exercise.
As part of the exercise, officials of the National Health Insurance Authority were on site to register persons who had no health insurance coverage and many others had their expired health insurance renewed, all free of charge.
Each person who was screened was served either breakfast or lunch depending on what time of the day they presented themselves. In addition, while each female took home a pack consisting of a bag of rice, a bottle of oil, tin tomatoes, mackerel, salt and maggie, males took home tins of milk, a pack of tea and sugar.
Wife of the Hon. Tampuli, Hajia Morili led the entire exercise in keeping with the saying that, behind every successful man is a an ideal woman. The joy written on the faces of the persons who were screened was so visible. Many of them expressed their appreciation for the exercise which they believed was the first of its kind ever to be held in the constituency.

Many such medical screening are in the pipeline for various parts of the constituency in keeping with the saying that, “health is wealth”.
