The 40.4km Reconstruction of the Bechem-Techimantia-Akumadan Road Project has been completed, according to the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
The road makes it easier for users to commute from Goaso, the Ahafo Regional capital to Techiman, the Bono East capital.
At a ceremony to cut the sod for the commencement of the project, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Hon. Dr. Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere, assured the constituents of prompt but quality work by the construction firm, Rango Constructions.
The road runs in the South-North direction from Bechem in the Ahafo Region through Dwomo and Techimantia all in the same region to Akumadan in the Ashanti Region.
There were also specific provisions for the following Urban/Peri-urban settlements along the road corridor comprising Bechem, Dwomo Techimantia, Akobro, Twapease, Subriso, Sranso No. 2, Saniso No.1, Saniso Zongo and Akumadan.
To eliminate traffic congestion within the Akumadan township stretch of the project, a new bypass was created from a green field to exit at a new location, Afrancho a town after Akumadan on the Kumasi – Techiman main road.
The original alignment through the Akumadan township was also rehabilitated by repairing potholes on the existing surface dressing and finishing off with a 50mm asphaltic concrete overlay.
The constituents whose towns and villages this first class road passes through are determined to vote massively for the NPP to continue with its good works for them.
“We are voting for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Dr. Benjamin Yeboah Sekyere to show gratitude to them for listening to our cries of many years” an opinion leader at Techimantia stated.
