Perform Your Duty And Leave Court To Decide Gyakye Quayson’s Fate- Hon George Obeng Takyi

Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, Honorable George Obeng Takyi, has expressed his grief and disappointment over the minority neglecting Parliament sitting for Gyakye Quayson’s court hearing.

In an interview with Kwaku Dawuro, on Movement In The Morning, on Movement TV/Wontumi radio, Hon Takyi, bluntly shared his opinion on minority in Parliament boycotting a sitting to support MP for Assin North James Gyakye Quayson’s court hearing.

According to him it gives an impression of their level of impotency, in relation to the various positions taken up by them in Parliament to better their constituencies.

In response to his opinion regarding the refusal of the minority being absent in Parliament on purpose he said that ” I’m surprised and I expect Ghanaians to be shocked as well because when you look at the task we have taken upon ourselves, it is mainly to be at the service of the nation. Once you are voted for, it is your duty to serve the nation so you come to Parliament on behalf of a constituency, in order to plan ways to develop and improve it. When you decide not to come to Parliament, it is your constituency that is affected.

Secondly when you look at the circumstance being the reason they missed the meeting yesterday, it is the laws of Ghana that has become a constitution, so we have every right to take someone to court if they go against the law, in order to assess and see if indeed they faltered before passing judgement. So whether  you are an MP, President or whoever and you go against the law you have to come and answer.”
