Pep Guardiola Puts Retirement Plans On Hold
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that he plans to continue coaching for longer than he had planned.
The Catalan will turn 50 on January 18 and he had previously indicated that he did not want to stay in football for longer than necessary, as he has other interests that he would like to pursue.
However, after signing a contract extension with City until the summer of 2023, Guardiola now admits that retirement is still a long way off.
“Experience helps you in this job, especially the way I live my profession,” Guardiola said.
“Before I thought I am going to retire soon and maybe now I am thinking I am going to retire older. Fifty already is a nice age.”
Guardiola spent four years in charge of Barcelona before spending three years at Bayern Munich, and he is currently in his fifth season as City coach.
