INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY MESSAGE FROM THE PEOPLE’S NATIONAL CONVENTION

The People’s National Convention joins the Women of Ghana as well as Women all over the world to celebrate women on this special day for the female gender.

The United Nations set the theme for the celebration as ” Gender Equality today for a Sustainable Tomorrow” . Whereas the local theme is crafted as ‘Breaking the barrier’ with the #BreaktheBarrier
As the country bounds back from the covid-19 pandemic, the PNC will want the government to put women and children needs at the center of the economic recovery that includes passing the Affirmative Action Bill into a law to allow women get equal treatment in the sector of employment, education, economic and political. It will be difficult for Ghana to attain sustainable growth while majority of it’s human resources base are left behind, thus female gender.

The PNC is worried about the recent proposition of coup by a section of Ghanaians. As we celebrate international women’s day, the PNC will would like to remind Ghanaians that, women and children are the hardest hit during coups and so, the Party cautions Ghanaians to be mindful of their utterances since a coup can only end up worsening the situation of the already deplorable state of women.

The NPP and the NDC have both paid lip services when it comes to the Affirmative Action Bill and this is becoming a worrying trend since most African countries have passed the bill with the exception of Ghana and Nigeria which are both from West Africa.

This is a shame and a disgrace to us as people who tout our democratic credentials.
The PNC is calling on the international community, the Civil Society Organisations, Non- Governmental Organizations etc to add their voices in pushing the leadership of both the NPP and the NDC to pass the Affirmative Action Bill.

Ghana has been blessed with talented women and the PNC is appealing to them to step out of the margins and take their rightful place as leaders of the nation.

A future PNC government shall put women and children affairs at the centre of their governance decisions.
Ayekoo to women all over the world.

PNC: Service with honesty
