Over 500 Houses At Afigya Kwabre South District Earmarked For Demolition
The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly in Ashanti has earmarked more than 500 houses at Krobo and Ntribuoho for demolition to pave the way for quarrying activities.
Officials from the Assembly in the company of 20 military personnel undertook the markings of the buildings. Residents of two communities who had their houses marked say they have been told to keep off the area as it is a quarry site.
Most of the houses have existed in these two communities for at least 20 years. The District Assembly is said to have engaged residents of Krobo on the issue, while residents of Ntribuoho claim no such engagements were held.
According to the affected residents, no deadline has been given to them to vacate the area. In an interview with our correspondent Akosua Frema Frempong, the DCE, Christian Adu Poku said affected residents are free to contact the Assembly for any further clarification.
