A Senior Lecturer with the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey has said revealed that some people are fervently praying for the proposed gold for oil policy to fail so that they can use that to mock Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
Mr. Ishaq Kyei-Brobbey stated on the Wontumi Morning Show that people want to gain political capital out the saga to propel their individual presidential ambition.
He was however optimistic that the gold for oil policy would work out and lessen the burden on the economy over time.
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is confident that the gold for oil policy will reduce the pressure on forex and also present the country with cheaper fuel.
The government took delivery of 40,000 metric tons of the first consignment of the gold for oil deal on Monday.
Many have, however, raised concerns about the government’s ability to sustain the policy.
But Dr Bawumia speaking at this year’s New Year School said the gold for oil policy is the best for the country looking at the current economic challenges.
