The Member of Parliament (MP) for Effiduase Asokore constituency, Hon. Nana Ayew Afriyie, has stated that the decision by some MPs to come out boldly and call for the immediate resignation of Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, has saved the country from a possible coup d’état.
In an interview on the Wontumi Morning show, Hon. Ayew Afriyie agreed with an earlier comment by Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe that but for the intervenwtion of the NPP MPs, Ghana would have been on the verge of experiencing a military intervention.
According to Nyaho-Tamakloe, the call for the dismissal of the finance minister whipped away the coup d’état plot.
Adding to the above comment, Hon. Dr. Ayew Afriyie indicated that “we knew what we were doing. It calmed the system down…You will hear Nyaho-Tamakloe talk about the move saving the government from a possible coup d’etat.”
He charged those who are against their public presser by the MPs, to avoid pouring needless blame on them.
