Otumfuo’s Ntamkese Invoked Against Offinsohene, Queenmother

The eligibility of the Offinsohene, Nana Wiafe Akenten III and his
Queen mother, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko as royals has been challenged.

Opanin Kofi Owusu Bempah, the Head of Family (Abusuapanin) of the
Nyamaasefuo of the Ashiren Royal family of Offinso has invoked
Otumfuo’s Great Oath (Ntamkese) against the Queen mother, the Omanhene
and their Head of family challenging their legibility and claim to the
Wiafe Akenten stool of Offinso.

Abusuapanin Owusu Bempah last Monday invoked the oath at the premises
of Manhyia Palace in the presence of witnesses when the
Offinsomanhemaa, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko joined the Asantehene Otumfuo
Osei Tutu II to celebrate his 22nd anniversary on ascending the Golden
Stool.

Owusu Bempah contended that the Akonkodieasefuo, to which the
Offinsohene and the Queenmother belonged are not royals and therefore
not legible to ascend the Wiafe Akenten stool of Offinso and indicated
that the Nyamaasefuo family after a long search, has concrete evidence
to prove their claim.

He said last Monday’s confrontation and subsequent invocation are
follow-up to the Queen mother’s apathy in addressing their claims
which had long been brought to her attention.
Nana Serwaa Nyarko, who saw the Abusuapanin as mad has not reacted to
the invocation of the oath.

The queen mother was enthroned Offinsomanhemaa 34 years ago in 1987
while the Offinsomanhene has been the occupant of the Wiafe Akenten
Stool for 28 years since November 1993.
