Old Ladies Don’t Lie- Chairman Wontumi Tells Opoku Agyemang To Desist From Claiming NDC Introduced Free SHS

Chairman Wontumi says he is yet to come across an old lady who matches Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang when it comes to telling of lies.

Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang, is on record to have said that the NDC, introduced the free Senior High School (SHS) program under the John Mahama-led government in 2015.

She even went on to claim that the program was better implemented compared to the current implementation under the NPP government.

Responding to the statement by Prof. Opoku Agyemang, Chairman Wontumi mentioned that when the idea of free SHS was raised by then opposition leader Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo, the NDC led by then President John Mahama quashed it and said it can’t be done.

“This old lady has really surprised me because at her age she is able to look Ghanaians in their eyes and tell us that they are the ones who introduced free SHS”, Chairman Wontumi said.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi wondered the rationale behind the forceful ownership of the policy by Prof. Opoku Agyemang after her party kicked against it.

Speaking on the Wontumi Morning Show which was carried live on four (4) other television stations, Chairman Wontumi urged the media to expose Prof Opoku Agyemang for claiming that it was the NDC that introduced free SHS in Ghana.

“If the media is not able to tell Ghanaians that free education was introduced by Nana Addo, listeners will begin to single out those media practitioners who believe in lies”, he said.
