Obiri Boahen Weeps Bitterly Over Speakership Election Results
The Deputy General Secretary for New Patriotic Party ( NPP), Lawyer Obiri Boahen has bemoaned over the results of the speakership election.
According to him, he is personally not comfortable with the results.
In an interview with Nana Konadu Abu Pra on Wontumi Radio/TV he said that, “if nothing at all we have 137 Parliamentarians and one independent candidate so what happened for one vote to be spoilt. And the person who didn’t vote for the NPP is very regrettable.”
Lawyer Obiri Boahen indicated that, the MP who voted against the NPP’s nominee for the speakership position, Prof. Mike Aaron Oquaye should have been considerate and not neglect the party.
“I’m very sad and have even lost appetite. We are even thinking of the lost of many seats and this has also happened.” He said
He added that, “I’m very sad Prof. Mike Oquaye didn’t win.”
According to him, the whole country especially Accra is very quiet following lost of the speakership position.
The NPP Deputy General Secretary said that, catastrophe has dawned the party and that they should all go back to the drawing board for a solution.
Giving a take on the Assin North MP elect who was allowed to cast his vote despite court injunction, Obiri Boahen said that, he can be charged with court contempt if he was served with the injunction.
